Having always been a fan of obi belts and a lover of experimenting with styling, I felt very inspired when taking listing photos for a beautiful gold tone piece in soft leather. This particular preloved piece is from Jaeger and has the most beautiful finish.
Obis have been around for hundreds of years and were originally worn as part of traditional clothing rather than for fashion. It is said that obis began as simple tied ropes later evolving into fabric creations and more recently (from about the 70s) they were available leather, some in soft malleable leather to allow for ease of knotting, bowing, gathering, wrapping etc. Great for styling in different ways. Although some leather obi style belts are quite stiff and are designed to be worn in a particular way. Obi belts once again became popular in the 1980s and have continued to drift in and out of popularity. One thing for sure is that the more modern, soft malleable type, are one of the most stylish and versatile belts to have ever been introduced to fashion, and have become a classic fashion accessory for good reason. This particular belts dimensions are 202 cm L x 5.2 cm W, the opening is 72.5 cm from the left end of the belt. Mani size 10 measurements 33.5, 26, 35 (85, 99, 89), shoe size 5. Just joking about the shoes.
